Cherry Beach

Bustling with people, Cherry Beach is a popular beach to go with dogs, bikes, or bathing suits. Bikers are always on the bike paths and there is an off-leash dog area filled with canines. This beach is on the more ‘undeveloped’ side of all the beaches in Toronto. There is more of a grassy presence and no real defined paths. At the north end, there are some grills and picnic tables. There is plenty of sand for everyone to enjoy, complete with a lifeguard building like Leuty at Woodbine beach. The water is a popular spot for every foot and paw alike on a hot day, but you may be hesitant to go in with all the algae. It floats near the shore and most of the rocks underwater are covered in it.

Cherry beach is a great place to go in the summer, as “Promise Cherry Beach” hosts an outdoor dance party from 3 pm to 11 pm, complete with DJs.  The beach is close to the Cherry Beach artificial soccer fields, and there are multiple sailing clubs dotting the beach and the surrounding area. The beach is also a popular spot for parties at night. The beach is often littered with remnants of a good time, but closer to the grass and forest-like area.

To get to the beach you can drive and park in two different parking lots or bike down. The TTC transportation is difficult and only available between May and Labour Day.
